TIM Booking
Visual and structural overhaul of a local car-sharing and rental app
TIM is a well-known mobility service based in Graz, Austria, specializing in sustainable and flexible transportation solutions for the city. A redesign, completed in collaboration with FH Joanneum, focused on streamlining user onboarding and enhancing the app's functionality to support both exploratory and precise vehicle searches within TIM's car-sharing and rental services.
Setting a Scope
Our brief focused on evaluating the current registration flows, which TIM hypothesized were contributing to their low number of active users. Additionally, we were tasked with reimagining the booking process, emphasizing both exploration of mobility options and enabling users to quickly locate and access the desired service or vehicle.
Understand
Based on our task, the next step was to identify underlying issues within both processes and evaluate potential improvements. At the core of our research was an in-depth usability testing process conducted with a diverse user group. This was complemented by user interviews and a landscape study to further pinpoint areas for improvement. Finally, we drafted a comprehensive usability report outlining the app’s most significant challenges, serving as the foundation for our design phase.
User-Flows
The redesign includes two comprehensive user flows based on our project scope. The first guides potential users through the steps of creating an account or logging in. The second provides both an exploratory or direct approach to finding and booking a vehicle, catering to different user preferences and needs.
Materialize
The final design integrates TIM's visual language while introducing a modern touch with rounded corners, a revamped layout featuring bottom navigation, and fully WCAG 2.2-compliant text colors and font sizes. Micro animations enhance usability by highlighting key information and bringing the app to life.
